General Questions

Q:

How do I join EAGLES Homeschool Group?

A:

Fill out the interest form found on the home page. We invite new families in June. There will be a short window of time to register, once we reach our membership cap for the year, registration will close. After registering, you will have 14 days to pay your dues or make arrangements with our treasurer.

If you do not pay on time your account will be "parked" and you will not have access to the website except to pay your dues. You will not be able to register for or particpate in any events or co-op classes. Any families parked for more than 7 days will be removed from the group.

Q:

Do I need to include all my children on the registration form?

A:

Please register only children who will be participating in Eagles events or Co-op classes. Only registered children will be able to RSVP for events & classes. Without an accurate birth date, you may not be able to register your children for certain age-restricted events and Co-op classes.

Q:

What does it cost to join EAGLES?

A:

Our annual dues are $125*, this covers the cost of maintaining this website, insurance, background checks, parties, and other participant-only events.

Annual Dues do NOT cover Co-op Classes, PE classes, private venues fees, field trip fees, or other outside costs or fees. Dues must be paid within 14 days of registering to remain in the group.

*The annual dues are subject to change.

Q:

What happens if I do not pay my dues on time?

A:

If you do not pay your dues on time we will "park" your account. While parked you will only have access to your balance, you will not have access to any other page of the website and you will not be able to register for or participate in events or co-op classes. Once you pay your balance, your account will be restored.

Any families parked for more than14 days will be removed from the website and Facebook group.

Q:

Do you offer refunds for dues or event fees?

You will need to register your children who wish to take PE each semester and pay the PE fee.
Due to space issues at local parks, there will be cap on the number of students who can register for PE, so be sure to register as soon as you receive the registration link and pay the PE fee immediately. Once we reach the cap, students will be placed on the waitlist.
We will send emails with a link to the registration well before the start of the PE.

Q:

What is the RSVP Etiquette?

A:

  • Repeatedly registering for and then cancelling events may cause others to miss out on attending therefore, if we detect a pattern of this behavior, you will be subject to our RSVP Violation Procedure.
  • If you can no longer attend an event you registered for, please change your RSVP, and contact the coordinator immediately to make space for another family or allow us to adjust our expenditures.
  • Cancellations should be made no less than 24 hours before an event. Aside from TRUE emergencies or sudden illnesses, cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance:
    • May be considered a no-show and be subject to our RSVP Violation Procedure.
    • May be subject to an activity fee to cover the cost of supplies or food for your family.
  • Some events are time sensitive, for these events, arriving LATE will be subject to our RSVP Violation Procedure.
    • Arriving late may result in not being able to participate in the event.
  • We understand that emergencies (car accident, sudden illness) do arise, however, it is unacceptable to no-show without a call/text to cancel.

RSVP VIOLATION PROCEDURE:

  • 1st Violation will result in a reminder of RSVP & event etiquette.
  • 2nd Violation will result in your family being placed on the waiting list for the next activity in which you would like to participate. Therefore, if the activity fills up you will not be able to attend.
  • 3rd Violation will result in your family's inability to attend any such activities for the remainder of the school year.

AFTER THE LAST DAY OF AN EVENT REGISTRATION, WE CANNOT OFFER REFUNDS FOR EVENTS IN WHICH YOU NO LONGER CAN PARTICIPATE.

Q:

What is your Code of Conduct?

A:

As Christian home educators, we are a representative of both Christ and home education in the community. Please ensure conduct reflects well on both. Member families will act in such a way that their words and actions promote the unity and encouragement of fellow EAGLES families. Member families will avoid acting or speaking in such a way that is considered disrespectful, offensive, immoral, intimidating, or rude.

Adult Conflict Resolution Policy:

  1. Give yourself time to calm down.
  2. Pray!
  3. Be humble. Your attitude should be reflective of the Christian values on which this organization was established.
  4. Be merciful: “Let love cover a multitude of sins.” Perhaps this incident can be resolved without confrontation by extending grace, forgiveness and being merciful.
  5. Be a peacemaker: Does this situation require confrontation? If you feel this conflict can be resolved privately, go to that person. Or, if you prefer, a Leadership Board Member(s) will be available to serve as a mediator(s).

If the problem persists, both parties should then meet with multiple Leadership Board Members. If no resolution is reached, the conflict should be taken to a neutral mediator (agreed upon by both parties). This procedure is to be strictly followed. Any member approaching a Leadership Board Member with a conflict within the group will be asked if he/she has abided by the guidelines 1-5 above.

Any member of EAGLES that persists in violating this Code of Conduct are considered to be conducting themselves in a way that is contrary to the specific and primary purpose of the organization. Such members may have their membership revoked by the EAGLES Leadership Board in an attempt for correction and restoration.

Students and adults attending any EAGLES event are expected to:

  • clean up after themselves
  • use positive and respectful language in all interactions with adults and peers
  • not bear false witness against another child or adult in EAGLES or when reporting incidents
  • not gossip to or about other EAGLES families.
  • show respect to adults and/or leaders by listening to them, and following any rules & guidelines that have been given
  • refrain from physical assault, unwanted touching, name calling, bullying, or other harmful behavior
  • adhere to any specific guidelines given for a specific event or activity. (i.e. for Field Days, children cannot be dropped off).
  • ALL tobacco products, vapes, alcohol, marijuana, marijuana products, or illegal drugs (including prescription drugs that are not prescribed to the person taking them) are prohibited from ALL EAGLES events.

Students only:

  • refrain from public displays of affection (i.e. kissing, excessive contact)

Parents are responsible for the behavior and safety of their children at all EAGLES functions. There will be no tolerance for physical assault, unwanted touching, name calling, bullying, or other harmful behavior. Any member of EAGLES that persists in violating this Code of Conduct are considered to be conducting themselves in a way that is contrary to the specific and primary purpose of the organization. Such members may be subject to the progressive discipline as outlined below and may have their membership revoked by the EAGLES Leadership Board in an attempt for correction and restoration.

Behavior & Discpline Guidelines

Disregard for behavior guidelines may result in any of the following progressive discipline:

  • 1st Violation — Verbal warning to the offender
  • 2nd Violation — Leadership conference with family to resolve behavior issue
  • 3rd Violation — The student or adult may be requested to leave the activity and parents will be expected to accompany their child(ren) to events
  • 4th Violation — Family may have their membership in EAGLES revoked; no refunds of dues or others fees will be offered.

All discipline actions will be noted on the family account.

These are only guidelines, discretion and the severity of the offense will also guide our discpline decisions. EAGLES reserves the right to suspend or remove a student and/or family for serious or violent misconduct without proceeding through the progression identified above when circumstances and the good of EAGLES so require.

Q:

What is your Dress Code?

A:

Please dress appropriately. Immodest clothing such as short shorts, mini skirts, midriffs showing, and clothing items with provocative, offensive, drug, alcohol, or gang-related pictures or messages, items depicting or promoting acts of violence, death, dismemberment, disfigurement, or other vulgar items are not permitted.

Clothing normally intended to be worn as undergarments should not be visible or worn as outerwear. Undergarments must be covered at all times – whether in sitting, bending, or standing positions.

Failure to abide by these guidelines may result in being asked to leave the event/activity or if repetition in failing to abide by these rules, may result in more aggressive disciplinary actions. Leadership decisions will be final and students may be asked to change their clothing. See below for progressive discpline guidelines

Co-op Classes

Q:

What kind of Co-op classes does EAGLES offer?

A:

Our classes should be considered supplemental and vary each semester depending on what our parent-teachers volunteer to teach. We strive to offer Pre-school, Art, Yearbook, science, and book clubs.

Classes we have offered in the past include speech, writing, STEM, hands-on history, survival skills, Archery, drama, choir, Lego Robotics, Civics, Astronomy, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology Spanish, and dance.

Q:

Are Co-op Classes drop off?

A:

No. We do not assume legal responsibility for your children. Every child must have one responsible adult on the premises at ALL times.

Q:

Do I need to help with Co-op Classes?

A:

YES! Co-op classes wouldn't work without our parents pitching in and helping. We will need classroom helpers, teacher substitutes, door monitors, nursery helpers, set-up & clean-up crews, and more.

For the nine-weeks of classes, you will need to be available at every hour your children are taking classes. Please do NOT schedule doctor, dentist, or work-related appointments during this time. You may not have to work all the hours, but you do need to be available to help at each and every hour that your children are taking classes. We always have absences at every hour that must be filled.

If you have paid the Volunteer Opt-out fee and your children take any co-op classes, you MUST still help with Co-op classes. The Volunteer Opt-out Fee does not excuse a parent from helping with co-op classes. The only opt-out for Co-op classes is to not take any classes.

Q:

How much do Co-op Classes cost?

A:

The Co-op classes fee are $15* per child, per class, per semester. Some classes may have an additional supply fee or costs for books and/or required items.

*Co-op class is subject to change

Q:

When do Co-op Classes meet?

A:

Co-op Classes meet on Mondays in two 10 week semesters. The 10 weeks consist of nine weeks of classes and the tenth week is Showcase Day. Fall semester is from September to November and Spring is from February to April.

Class times are:

  • 1:00pm - 1:55pm
  • 2:00pm - 2:55pm
  • 3:00pm - 3:55pm

Q:

Do we have to take classes for all three hours?

A:

No. Your children may choose to take one, two, or three classes.

Q:

Can my children take Co-op classes without being EAGLES members?

A:

No. Our Co-op Classes are only open to our EAGLES families. You must be a family in good standing to participate in Co-op classes.
